Apple Cobbler

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 cups sliced fresh apples (or canned)
  • 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup of butter (plus extra for Dutch oven)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup regular oats (uncooked)

Serves 10 people.

Steps:

At Home:
1. Combine sugar, flour, oats, and salt in a ziplock bag
2. Chop butter into small chunks and mix into flour mixture in the bag.
3. Keep in a cooler until ready to cook.

At Campsite:
1. Butter Dutch oven
2. Chop 5 apples into medium chunks
3. Put apples into the oven
4. Sprinkle and stir lemon juice over apples
5. Pour flour mixture evenly over apples
Opt: Add extra butter

6. Bake for about 30 minutes with 12 white briquettes on the lid and underneath oven
